  • Say NO to PIRACY!

Since the explosion of e-books on the market, e-piracy has been a horrendous problem for all authors.

A free book? Many readers will look at the prospect as a dream come true, but readers are unaware of e-piracy's consequences.

E-piracy takes money (our bread and butter) right out of our pockets and, in 2009, has taken BILLIONS of sales dollars from hardworking authors.

If E-piracy continues, authors will be forced to stop producing e-books. Publishers might have to encrypt books, raising costs, and making it impossible for readers to share or use on multiple e-readers.

All books (including e-books) have a copyright. If you're caught uploading, transferring, selling, copying, or sharing an e-book, you can be fined $250,000.

E-piracy is the same as stealing.

Please support all authors in their fight against the dreaded e-piracy and say "NO" to anyone offering you a free copy of an e-book (other than an author).

I’m back with some great news…

Posted by Tamela Quijas - Romance Author on November 4, 2010

I’ve been A.W.O.L. as of late, tied up with 10 page essays for school, mid-terms, and school presentations.  There hasn’t been much time to be on the INTERNET, let alone to do much else in this mad-mad world of mine.

Finally, though, I’ve managed to dig through the mess of paperwork surrounding me!  No more citations, quotes, or eduational phrases that make me cross my eyes and wonder who in the blazes reads technical reports!

So, the weight is off my shoulders and I’ve dropped back in.  I’ve missed each and every one of my darling friends!  I have a ton of emails to answer, blogs to read, and commentaries to pass out.

Meanwhile, while I finish baking that last batch of congratulatory oatmeal/M&M cookies, I wanted to announce that my paranormal romance, BLOOD OF THE BEAST, has been re-released with a new cover and content!  I am absolutely thrilled with the new cover, the image of Detective Valentina Kureyev as perfect as I could ever imagine. Demetri’s tale isn’t available yet on Amazon, but should be come Monday.  If you absolutely can’t wait, stop on by 1PlaceForRomance.com and pick up your electronic copy.

Blurb:

There is a scent that fills the night, far more delicate than the beat of the human heart, more fragile than the whisper of breath that escapes the lungs. It is the scent of the blood that pulsates through the mortal body. Commonly overlooked by those among the living, it is a sound so fervently sought by those that reside on the fringes of the world that exists between the living and the undead. It is what the beast craves.

The dead have littered her old neighborhood, unjustly murdered and drained of their life source, each victim  left as a calling card. The killer  meant to call to another, an individual existing on the fringes of society, his secret well hidden from those that live. Valentina Kureyev has been assigned to the case and her encounter with those that crave the blood of the beast will drive her to the edge of sanity.

Excerpt:

“Are you responsible for any of the bodies we’ve found?” She blurted out as she examined his suddenly pale features.

“I asked you for a distraction, not an insult, dorogaya.” He managed with a wry chuckle, the smallest fraction of tenseness appearing to ease from him. Demetri looked down at her upturned face, his eyes heavily lidded, and his expression forbidding.

“It’s not an insult, Petronov.” Val responded, her expression serious. “I have to know.”

“Shut up, Detective.” Demetri commanded imperiously in the silkiest of menacing tones. His large hands fell from his ribcage and remained, pale and unclenched, at his sides. The horror threatening to consume him began to wane slowly. “For once, shut that luscious mouth of yours, and don’t speak my name aloud.”
