| Once upon a time in a distant kingdom far, far away lay the province of St. Lorraine. A lush and peaceful place until the death of it’s ruler at the hands of its new ruler. Now the lands are barren and dry, the people unhappy. D’Angel the Destroyer has ruined the land, the people and his wife. Coveting the power of the local witch, the Demon of St. Lorraine chases down the old woman and in an effort to get her power she is killed. But before she dies she curses the man’s two about to be born sons. One to be redeemed by angel’s fire and the other to dwell in the bowels of hell, enveloped in the blood of his victims.Angel’s Fire, Demon’s Blood is not your traditional good vs. evil story. Lucien, the youngest of the twins has had a long and tortured life. Now he’s met what he believes to be his salvation, Eva Keyes aka Evangeline Keegan.Lucien is an unusually tortured hero even though he doesn’t believe he is a hero. The man has been tortured beyond belief by not only his father and brother but by the curse he was born with. We don’t meet the brother until late in the story by which time Lucien has built a relationship with Eva and is trying to talk her into granting his most fervent wish.
This story is full of characters with major problems and watching them work their way through all their issues ended up being very satisfying. Ms. Quijas has a wonderful imagination and a nice hand with world building. If you like stories featuring ghosts, demons, and ghost hunters you should enjoy this one very much.
